The ProTac 2L-X USB is a 500 lumen EDC light that is a rechargeable system. It comes with Streamlight's new SL-B26 (18650) USB battery with integrated USB charging port. Multi-battery versatility means the user can always use primary disposable cells to power the light if the rechargeable cell is out of power and a charging source is not available. It features a tactical tail cap switch for momentary or constant on operation, three different user selectable programs and a pocket clip for convenience.

Typical excellence you expect in a Streamlight. I use it daily in walks before sunrise and it illuminates with a good size beam - not a tight spot. I was using the Streamlight 88061 ProTac 1L-1AA (350lm) for flightline work and walks but this is a significant upgrade. It is slightly larger than the 88061 but not too large for a pocket.
My only ding against it is that you have to remove the battery to recharge it as opposed to having a port on the light itself. I'm sure this improves the integrity of the light, but lots of water-tight items have overcome this concern.

My ProTac 1L-1AA appears to be just a bright as this one (I have an USB rechargeable CR123, which I always keep topped off) . They both have the same amount of spillage, but the 1L-1AA's narrow beam is brighter that the 2l-X. which leads me to believe that this is not 500 lumens. The only benefit of the 2l-X over the 1L-1AA is that the larger battery lasts more that twice as long. But due to it's length, it wont clip onto some hip-pockets. This does not get as hot as my last two Olight flashlights. So some pros, some cons. Considering the Olight M2R Pro as a replacement, got to save up my pennies.

If you want the best EDC light with a tail switch, simple operation, easy and fast to deploy, I suggest the ProTac 1L-1AA with a Olight USB rechargeable CR123. It's very durable, I've dropped this many times on concrete. The narrow beam pattern reaches far and the spillage is perfect. For 350 lumens, it's a great deal.

I have the next size smaller of this series (ProTac 1L-AA, 350 lumens), that little light is great... so this was a no-brainer: 500 lumen output and rechargeable too.

The tail switch just like the smaller light: multi-mode (high, medium, low, strobe on this light model). It can also be used for momentary on applications or clicked to remain on.

I'm very satisfied with these lights, and highly recommend them.

The on/off button on my 2L-X doesn’t work at all when the end cap is screwed in snugly. The light only flickers on & off erratically when I’m loosening the end cap. It’s not functioning at all as advertised. I’ll have to send it back for repair or replacement.
Otherwise it seems like a decent flashlight - I must’ve just got a lemon.

I told my husband I wanted a good flashlight. He told me about this brand so I looked it up and decided to buy this one. OMG, I love this flashlight. It is very bright just like I wanted and I love the fact it is USB charge. I use it when we go to our property in Eastern Washington. It is very dark at night because you are not near all the city lights. This light is amazing! Works wonderful. Will be a repeat customer.

I drive a truck for a living, and at times, a phone flashlight won’t cut it. This flashlight is just what I needed when it comes to low light conditions and personal safety.

It’s solidly built and the controls are responsive. If you quickly tap the switch twice is set up for strobe, three times for low power, then it goes back to the single tap death ray mode. The clip allows hat usage which is secure and can be handy. I also use the longer “hat clip” to clip it high on my belt for carry. The small outer clip doesn’t poke me at all when I wear it like that, nor does it snag on the pants when I deploy it, though that can can easily vary with build. Really thinking about getting another one. It definitely delivers for the price and as a defensive tool it inspires confidence.

My EMT son purchased as his field light. I used it a couple of times and loved it. Super bright, no distortion, huge field of view. I also like that I can clip onto my cap to be hands free. Highly recommend.

I mostly love my new flashlight but I’ve came close to losing it because it comes unclipped to my pocket. Luckily it always fell into instead of out of my pocket when it came unclipped
