For superior weapon security and rapid access, the Safariland ALS/SLS Level III Retention Duty Holster is designed to provide a safe, comfortable and ergonomic holster solution that sits close to the hip and keeps the firearm vertical for a quick draw. Ideal for on-duty professionals, this holster features the signature Automatic Locking System, which utilizes an internal locking device that keeps the firearm secure and readily accessible. A Self Locking System rotating hood prevents accidental discharges and maintains firearm position. Like any good duty holster, this one requires thumb only operation to eliminate the placement of fingers near the trigger guard when drawing. The mid-ride belt loop allows the holster to be worn close to the body and can fit any belt up to 2 inches in width.

This holster is exactly what it looked like online and exactly what I hoped it would be. I don't ordinarily open carry, and refuse to do so without a proper level III holster. I'm not an LEO. I'm an ordinary citizen who normally carries CCW.

One thing to point out to others like me... you may have a bit of adjustment for a comfortable position in the seat of your car. My bucket seats conflict with the weapon being so outboard of my hip. It took a few days and slight adjustments to the holster position on my belt to get it right.

When my agency changed from Glock to Smith & Wesson M&P, we got these. Very simple to operate. Yes, after getting these, you could hear all over the office practicing to get that muscle memory. It didn't take very long and is much more secure than any other holster I have worn over the past 20 years.

After switching to these from the old leather holsters at work, I am in love! There was nothing like the horror of having to break in that old leather holster. It was nice to be able to put the firearm inside the holster and have it completely secured, but yet easy to draw.
