These BDUs (Mil Spec cargo fatigues) are totally awesome and are one of the greatest values on the whole entire internet, without regard for type of product. They have no problem with shrinkage (although you have posted a warning about it). Even washing and drying them on high temp could not cause more than 1/2" reduction in waist size, so noted because I needed a little more shrinkage than that and could not cause it. I am so blown away by the quality of fabric and assembly that I am recommending them to all of my Law Enforcement / Ex-Military colleagues. However, I guess the my ultimate assessment of value remains squarely on the fact that I BOUGHT 40 PAIRS of BDU pants, and I am not anywhere near finished with this and other related BDU type products. Historically, I never do these on-line reviews, but this time I feel the need to let everyone in on this amazing product... at prices equal your average package of underwear you bought at the Shopping Mall. Keep in mind guys like me are NEVER at the Shopping Mall, and only comply with that request when physically forced to by a member of the opposite sex .

I’ve gotten probably five pairs of these pants and they make probably the best work pants I’ve ever owned.
Started buying BDU style pants about a year ago for a remedy to the blue jeans I have worn in one brand or another ($9 Walmart to $50 Wranglers) which are all junk if you’re gonna do anything but look cool wearing them.
These pants have lasted longer with NO signs of ware and are virtually stain proof and I’m in a machine shop almost everyday (khaki color even!).
Lots of good, functional pockets. (Phones, tools, knives, ammo, ect) Heavy duty zipper (I don’t recommend the cotton/button fly ones unless ya wanna play “peek-a-boo” all day). A little baggy but, I’m getting to that part... Pay close attention.
Sizes are long in the leg (inseam) and crotch area. Ex. I usually wear boots and jeans. 34” inseam that look/feel/functions fine. This size would equate to Lg/Long... But, Negative... The BDUs are baggy (as you know) but, these sit lower than normal (lots of “ ballroom“. *Quoting from a “working man’s” clothing store that sells expensive pants to “work” in. Yeah, Right! Maybe if I was go’n to da Union Ball wit my ol’lady.) Anyway, this makes them fit 2” or more lower. Ya have to roll them up 2-4 rolls after ya take your boots off or you’ll be walking all over the leg openings.
I just got a pair in lg/reg and they fit just fine with sneakers or 8” lace up boots! Regular GI issue BDUs are too short (32” and not as much “ballroom”) unless you stick them in your boots. (The pant legs, I mean, not the balls)
I WILL be buying more of these pants I just wish I would have gotten the size figured out last year ‘cause I don’t think I’m gonna wear out the 4 pairs for quite some time.

I have a number of the older style cotton BDU's - Urban Woodland version like these. This version has rip stop (I love that), and a zipper instead of buttons - I like this too. On the original purchase of two pair - for testing - one of the zippers zipped up and right off of the zipper. The issue was the "block" at the top of the tipper. A small metal piece that prevents the zipper from coming off. It simply popped off when I zipped up the zipper.

Tactical Gear replaced the pants rapidly, and I am continuing to test this version of the pants. I might sew a small button or something to prevent that from happening again, but another "fix" is to button the top button first BEFORE zipping up the zipper. As long as the zipper pull does not leave the zipper, it should hold well... I really want these pants to work out well because I just love this camo design much better than anything else on the market.

For single color BDU style pants, I like the dark grey Propper ones, which I wear for work as a videographer.

I'm 6'4", 205 lbs, tall athletic build. In other BTUs, I'm okay with a Medium-Long, but when I tried ML in these, they were tight-ish on my behind and thighs. Exchanged for Large-Long and so far they seem okay (and, if the reviews are true about shrinkage after washing, they should still fit well after that, too).

As for the rest...the waist adjustments could be a bit more secure (e.g. I tightened the straps down a bit, and they re-loosened when I ran my hand around the waistband to tuck a shirt in). And the main pockets (front and rear) would both benefit from being a bit larger. A wallet could easier fall out of the rear pocket, and the fronts are barely deep enough to allow my hands to fit (glove size XL / military 6/7) though their width is okay. The cargo pockets are roomy.

Everything seems sturdy, and they're comfortable walking around, crouching/kneeling, etc. Haven't gone for any multi-mile hikes yet, but they should be fine.

I wanted to love them. I purchased two pair of these, the URBAN Rip Stop from the Genuine Gear of Propper. I was worried about the pants.

They arrived quickly - as always - and I tried them on with the tags in place, and they fit very well - I was afraid of even ordering them due to some early reviews, but mine fit just fine (Medium Regular - I am 5' 8", 34 waist, 28 / 29" inseam, so they are slightly long because my inseam is slightly short), but they fit just fine.

So, I removed the tags and tossed them out. Wore one pair of them and was perfectly happy with them. Today, I hop out of the shower, slip into the pants, sip them up, and the zipper handle just zipped right on off the top of the zipper... making these pants useless for me.

The cost of having a repair of the zipper makes these pants a cost loser for me... buttons, which I do not like, can simply be sewn back on... a zipper? That's a whole new ballgame - and it makes me realize WHY the military went with buttons on these types of pants.

I would NOT recommend these pants for purchase due to the 50% failure rate I had with the zipper (so far)... I am now scared of when the other sipper might just break too... Now I am out $$ and nervous about when the other shoe will drop (zipper break).

Damn! I wanted to love these pants so much....

Overall these are great for the price! My problem has been my size. I'm 6'4" 195 lbs., and I wear a 34x34 in most brands. I first bought the medium-long, but they were too tight. I could button them, but I didn't want to have them blowout on me, so I gave them to my 16 year-old son who's about 25 lbs lighter. I then purchased the large long, and they're huge on me. Nothing wrong with the pants. I'm just right in between sizes. If I lost 10 lbs, the mediums would be perfect. The length is very long too, which I like. With the ties in the cuffs, you can tie them at you ankle or boot, and have no issue with the extra length. I don't really care for the ties, so I hemmed up about 1.5" and they're still my longest pair of pants.
My only complaint about the pants, is the cinchers on the waist do not hold well at all. You'll need a belt if these are loose on you.
I will definitely be getting an extra pair in a different color.

I am an adamant review reader however; I never write them. Today I decided why not…so here goes…first of all I searched everywhere for these pants in stores with no luck getting my size. I am very petite but I have a little height as well so I need a small size with some length. I initially ordered a size small long, nonetheless they happened to be waaay to long so I returned them. (Skeptical) I ordered small regular and to my surprise they fit just fine. I was very pleased with this purchase and will definitely buy from BDU again.

The local Army/Navy store sells the pair for a few dollars more in markup with a limited selection and limited sizes.

The pants are lightweight and relatively durable. It also dries relatively quickly and can take abuse from outside work. It does Not have pocket drain holes and has bottom leg drawstring closures instead of a regular cuff. It also does not have a separate pocket for smartphones. Then again, this is a no-frills BDU poly cotton pants, hence the 'Genuine Gear' line instead of the 'Propper' gear line.

The pants fit true to size, at least for me. A belt is Not included but there are 2 cinch straps, one on each side, to help properly adjust the waist. A belt would make it fit better. The hand pockets are deep enough to keep a smartphone but the bigger ones, which could fit in the side pockets.

The waist button is badly sewn as it's relatively loose and may snap soon. It will need to be resewn and reinforced!

It washes well and kept it color, for now but it does wrinkle somewhat.
Time will tell how durable it is and how long it'll last.
It's lightweight so probably not meant for winter but will try to wear warm fleece or wool underwear underneath to see how it wears during the winter later.

I absolutely love these pants, they remind me so much of the actual military BDU's that I used to wear being in the ARMY and they fit like a glove, true to size..I wear a large/long and am happy that they have an actual zipper with a top button closure compared to the old button down BDU's I wore in the military..Great Product and Very Rugged..I recommend these BDU pants to anybody looking to buy a pair, they are well worth every penny..I plan on buying another pair soon, either the tiger striped or Asian tiger striped pattern, plus they look pretty kool just wearing out on the town..Thank You!!

The fit is true to size, at least for me.
It has the cinch strip on the sides to tighten the waist but a belt is still needed. Bought 2 Propper basic nylon belts and it matches and works well.
There's no separate pocket for smartphones but the regular pockets are fine and deep enough. The pockets are roomy enough to stuff things in there.
Note: 1) There are NO bellows pockets with drain holes as listed and 2) the nylon-drawstring leg closures need to be replaced and cuffed!
What's missing are ODD sizes for waist and for inseam.
The pants are relatively durable. It's somewhat snug on the waist and the pants do grab the front leg/quadriceps tighter while the bottom portion is baggy.
Overall, it's rugged but does stain easily and does not dry as fast for poly/cotton ripstop but it's durable for outdoor work.
May be better to buy regular tactical pants instead of BDU pants for practicality and style esp. since the former looks more formal for casual wear and the latter is more baggy.
