This cane is everything it is purported to be. Solid and well constructed, and I especially like the two (understated) serrated grips for use in the defensive position. I did not have to cut it down so I can't comment on that. While I do not require a cane (yet) I plan to practice and exercise with it so when the time comes I will be an educated and prepared senior. If you have been looking at this product and trying to decide (like I was) I would say go for it. Product was packed well and discreet and shipping was prompt. Plus, this site has the best prices around.

If you are tall and heavy this cane will definitely support your weight. If you are looking for a inconspicuous cane for self-defense, this cane will meet your needs. It is long and may need to be cut down to size if you are going to use it because your health care provider advised using a cane. There are instructions on line how to size a cane to fit properly for medical purposes.

For self-defense purposes, you may want to cut it down a tad so that it is more agile. I would wait a bit before cutting it down if you are using it for self-defense purposes.

If you are as old as I am you probably won't get stopped from taking the cane into places where weapons are proscribed. If you are younger and don't have some readily visible physical disability but have been advised to use a cane, I would get that advice in writing from the health care provider.

If you are younger and don't need to use a cane for medical purposes, while the cane will pass casual inspection, at a formal weapons checkpoint with alert guards, you may get it confiscated. Once someone holds the cane in their hands they will realize it is no ordinary cane.

For my purposes, an old guy who has so much wrong with him, a cane is a natural health aid just like eye glasses and hearing aids, I doubt that anyone would question the use of this cane. Perhaps a really sharp security guard who has martial arts training might, but how many security guards are there in that category?

A little heavy, but a stout cane for big people needing strong cane to get up from floor or low chair. Also, a great self defense weapon!
