The Princeton Tec Fred Headlamp provides powerful, hands-free illumination. Producing up to 45 lumens of light, this headlamp uses three Ultrabright white LEDs to create powerful, wide beams of light. A red LED also is included to provide illumination that preserves night-adjusted vision. A large push button activates the headlamp, which always turns on in the low mode of the red LED, so you will not be stunned by sudden bright light. The light is powered by three AAA batteries and includes a comfortable, adjustable headband for a secure fit. Complete with a water-resistant construction, this product is great for camping, hiking or search and rescue missions.

Red light default setting is excellent for not lighting up the room when I just need to see in my bag at night. Side port access to batteries makes changes fast and easy. Best head lamp I’ve owned.

The button that operates the lamp was a little tricky at first to get the hang of, but I do like the different lighting options that were available for this light.

Taking this to Costa Rica, looks like it will work well. Sun will set at 6.00 PM and not many street lights

Pros? decent light, compact, handy. Cons? On these models the door to the battery compartment WILL fail, just a matter of time, Terrible design.
